FISHING SAFARI – catching a tiger!
The combination of unspoiled wild nature, the feeling of freedom out on a fishing boat on an African river is a virus that you experience once, and you just want to come back again and again to experience the thrill of a fishing safari. There are a couple of events in every fisherman's life that highlight the undeniable privileges of a fishing trip, and landing a trophy fish and enjoying a cold beer after a hard days fishing of bream, catfish as well as tussles with the ferocious tiger fish, who sometimes are known to devour their own kind, are just some. And it doesn't end there. Bird watching and game viewing are all part of the package. A small strip of Namibian land wedged between Botswana and Zambia forms the Caprivi Strip and this part of Namibia is bordered on the north by the Upper Zambezi, and on the south by the Chobe River which are perfect fishing safari destinations.
Tiger fish are targeted all year round, but are exceptionally aggressive during the annual catfish run between September and November when your fishing rod literally comes alive in your hands as it dives and fights for its life, while Nembwe and other bream species prove more fruitful during April to August.
After arriving at Windhoek Airport for your fishing safari, you will be transferred to Khan River Lodge, and once you are settled into their luxurious, comfortable accommodation, your fishing guide will give you tips on fishing in Namibia. A fishing safari can also be combined with taking in some of the other magnificent sites in this technicolour landscape of sandy dunes and glistening white flats. The close proximity of the Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls make the Caprivi Strip a superb destination for fishing and for naturalists.
If you want to experience true Namibian hospitality at Khan River Lodge combined with pitting your angling skills against excellent sporting fish on a fishing safari, then feel free to contact Khan River Lodge to provide you with great options!
